Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Information entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any results. We do not keep or log the names, record numbers, or other search terms entered through those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message so that a response can be made. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information each time a page loads:
- The IP address associated with the device
- Browser and browser-version information
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is provided
- Page-view timestamps
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help measure traffic and site use. Analytics providers may aggregate that information. Browser settings can block cookies, although some parts of the site may then function differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, secure, and improve site performance
- Route a search request to its partner provider
- Understand which pages are used and where technical problems arise
- Maintain and troubleshoot the service
- Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor
No Court-Record Data on File
We do not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record information. The site describes where Sampson County court records are maintained and how to reach the North Carolina court system and the Sampson County Clerk of Superior Court. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes on some pages. Information entered there is governed by the provider's own privacy policy and retention practices, not this policy. We do not control a provider's data use, so review its policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to North Carolina Judicial Branch resources, court portals, clerk pages, and third-party services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the other party's privacy policy governs. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners can track activity across websites to deliver targeted advertising. That activity occurs within their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that process a visitor's query
- Analytics providers used for performance measurement
- Advertising networks that display ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information collected through the site. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, and a breach-free service cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If you believe a minor provided information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina court-record access is governed by the court-record and public-record rules applicable to the underlying record, including G.S. 7A-109 and G.S. 132-6.2. Those laws concern records held by public custodians and do not alter this private site's privacy practices. At a minimum, you may ask about personal information retained from a direct contact, request correction of inaccurate information, ask that it be erased where applicable, or opt out of certain data processing where available.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised from time to time. The updated version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
